So I ll be up front I contributed to this book and I m also on the Board of Directors for BA This may upset some but I want to be honest, I do not feel this is one of BA s better books It is one of the few devotionals I ve read that do not give me an overwhelming sense of the god which is the main reason I read it I wanted to know how others see this divinity There are several good works in here however, such as Jennifer Lawrence s Hermes in America and I like the ideas presented in Rebecca Buchanan s Travels with Hermes How to Build a Portable Shrine for the God of Roads That said, devotionals are very personal things, so as the old adage goes your mileage may vary.

I have mixed feelings about this book It was interesting and I found some authors to look into but I don t know It didn t feel cohesive to me And the formatting bothered me, but maybe that s because it wasn t available on Kobo and I had to buy it from Kindle instead, and I prefer Kobo, or maybe it was just a weird formatting thing It just Didn t meet the standards I was expecting, based on reviews and the companies stated desires for these devotionals It was useful for learning about the modern pagan views on Hermes though, which I suppose made it worth the read.

I liked a few of the of the hymns and prayers a lot and the highlight for me were the writings of P Sufenas Virius Lupus, but I have to agree with previous reviewers that this devotional lacked much of the passion that made the previous devotional that I ve read in this series, dedicated to The Morrigan I hope to find texts devoted to Hermes in the future and this was still a good book, but it didn t have the feel that I was expecting, if that makes any sense.
